C'era una volta: una tavola apparecchiata {Once upon a time: a table laid}

Good morning to all, today I want to tell you a story. The story of a girl that even though eating alone at home loved set the table.

And I speak in the past because we depart from there.

There once was a girl that between work, sports, friends and family never let go sit around a table to eat a piece of pizza, the important thing was that if she was at home everything was put on a white tablecloth.

Then one day, sitting at a bar she meets her prince charming and then set the table was even more beautiful. After years of knowledge the two get married and maiden goes crazy to make the set of linen and lace every night at dinner seemed to be in a restaurant.

Then one day a test communicated to the a young couple who would become three and from there life changes.

Born the eldest you are catapult into a completely unknown reality: eating on the run between feedings, prepare dinner in record time and are mainly discovered placemats!

Until after the first few months, the baby started to sit down with the parents and from there began the disaster aesthetic ... Well yes because if the couple were happy to be a part of having a child with them as they grew up and learned to eat by himself, the other side was the young maiden (now even more so young too) who watched desperate the 'actions of the child.

But the various books of pedagogy and the various methods of education say that experience for the children is normal and right, almost a requirement and then the mother could not help but let it do ... Asking "but when will end all of this?"

{Wanders Mon Amour}

E' arrivato quel giorno.

Olandese, 49 anni, laureato "cum laude" nel  Institute of the Arts Arnhem.

Arrived that day. The one in which I talk about my passion for design by introducing the designers that have impressed me the most.

And I could not start from another. I love the design of this genius named Marcel Wanders. Dutch, 49 years old, graduated "cum laude" in Institute of the Arts Arnhem. You might think that the Dutch are cool to hear them talk but ... He has what one of my ex-boss called "the happy hand" that is, able to draw new things winking to the ancient without ever losing his personality.

I recognize that a "whole" Wanders can be a bit 'too much, his interiors are sometimes loads up to the limit, but his wallpaper however are so beautiful that I would put in each one of the rooms of my home perhaps on a single wall ^ __ ^

I consider him a 360 ° designer, designing furniture. ceramics, plates and cutlery, jewelery, interiors, anything! I leave some photos of its products, so open yourself to a world without end ...

Come Fare un Chiudi Tovagliolo da un Scarto di Tessuto {How to Make a Napkin Close by a Scrap of Fabric}

E come faccio?

And well, we have guests for dinner and want to dress the table in a different way. And how do I? It's not that we always have them same guests but it's always me and I always enjoy a bit of change, right?

I started to search around the house, more precisely in that room that we just moved, and I found some scraps of cloth, the fabric that is not wool but it is not felt (or a thin felt), and I got an idea . You can do this with any fabric, I did this because that's what it has fallen to my hands.

If someone tries to make these close napkins or anything seen on the blog can also send us a picture, or you can post it on Instagr.am with the tag # mintsuitcase. With your photos we'd make a gallery and one never knows if you can win something * '_ ^ *

Inspirazione: New york! {Inspiration: New York!!}

A few days ago my beloved little brother turned 25 years old and because every time I have to find the right gift for him to I spend too much, both in money and in time of research, the table for dinner with family and and the party of the day after for friends was Low Cost, about 50 € spent for both evenings. I am started by one of his great loves New York and around this I have set the tables. White, red and black colors that have mastered for the parties.

For dinner at home was complicated to adapt the classic style dinning room of my parents with a modern theme .... A centerpiece made of a vase filled with red apples resting on a white tablecloth with above a black runner in paper non-woven fabric. Was fun  to write with white chalk on the runner, customizing it as I please. As placeholders I used mini slates on which I wrote the name in english of course! Like napkin close a brilliant black heart White ceramics, crystal glasses and the game was done!

the aperitif of the next day was done on a private terrace in the center of Rome, the leitmotif was the same. This time the tables were black so I made the runner always of paper non-woven fabric white, black napkins and placed above the center of the table a simple inscription: The Love Big and a red apple. Candles, red pillows and a hand-drawn panel located behind the buffet depicting the skyline. Simple and inexpensive ideas for a night on which fun was to lord it.

Tips: used first chalk on paper non-woven fabric so that you can delete on error and then wipe the final design with a marker type brilliant Uniposca!

Funny also use the wooden crates of fruit as a centerpiece!

Come apparecchiare la tavola {How to set the table}

Ho creato un mostro!!! Aiuto!!!

Normale? No.

Help!

Let me explain it better: my husband is sick at home; he smashed his knee playing soccer with 8 years old children. We have tried to explain him many times that when you are 40, there are some things you just cannot do as before, but he doesn’t seem to understand. The fact is that he is at home and when I return from work, lunch is ready and the table set. Not too bad, isn’t it?

Yesterday when I came back home for lunch I realized that the table was properly set. Is this normal? No.
I am very picky; I use fabric napkins and put the knife on the right and the fork on the left, a glass for the water and another one for the wine ... small details. I realize that not everyone care about these details. Of course I do not use the crystals and porcelain every day, Ikea glasses have their place at the table, too.

This is why I have decided to write some basic tips about how set the table, even though this may sound very obvious for some people, sometimes it isn’t for other.

Put the spoon and the knife on the right side, with the blade facing the plate, please. Put the fork and the napkin on the left side. You can also put the napkin on the left of the fork, below the fork or on the plate if you want. The glass of water goes on the right side and the wine glass next to it (left). And voilà, a beautifully settled table! It's not so hard, isn’t it?
